The speed of a web page can immensely affect the business conversion rates. Greater speed confirms a better user experience and hence the conversion optimisation is higher.

WordPress Themes can be very difficult to choose. There are a lot of criteria to look at such as the speed, page size, and many more. When the page-loading speed is faster, it ensures better search engine ranking, online revenue and a greater conversion rate. There are a number of criteria to consider while choosing WordPress themes, but we shall be focusing on speed for this post.

Check the following themes with their performance rating as per Google Insights and GTmetrix.

One thing to keep in mind, the page load time and size largely depends on the User too. The size of the page and page load time are directly proportional. The amount of media and content you have, will affect the loading time proportionally. The following factors must be taken care of, to reduce page load time: (By KISSmetrics)

1. Your Javascript and Stylesheets

2. Images on your website, should be optimised

3. Cache: CMS such as WordPress, lets you reduce page load times using plugins such was WP Super Cache.

We selected the top 50 WordPress themes of 2014 and ran the speed test on all of them. Their page speed grades ranged from grade A to F. We eliminated the slowest themes as we arranged the  themes in the order of the fastest to slowest. Among these themes, grade A signifies a faster speed as compared to grade C. From the remaining set we selected the top 25 and have presented it here in the blog post. Lets hope that choosing WordPress themes will be an easier task hereafter.
